STL-Style is dedicated to the continued improvement of St. Louis City by supporting efforts to enhance and preserve our distinctive urban environment. Currently, we are actively opposed to the St. Louis Archdiocese's plan to demolish the mid-century modern San Luis Apartments (formerly the DeVille Motor Hotel) only to replace it with a surface parking lot. Located at the northeast corner of Lindell & Taylor in the CWE, the San Luis is an integral component of the diverse streetwall of Lindell Boulevard, and is a remarkable example of contemporary 1960s-era architecture.

We believe that replacing this impressive structure with a surface parking lot would be an insult to the lively urban atmosphere of the Central West End, and would demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of urbanist ideals or community consciousness.
