Dear Cherokee Residents and Friends,
Your friendly neighborhood business association has started an initiative to develop a brand-new Cherokee Street Flag! Powered by our all-time favorite artistic community: Cherokee Street!
Over the next three weeks, we’ll be accepting submissions for a new Cherokee Flag from any St Louis resident active in the Cherokee community and interested in making it a better place. Later on, we’ll have our friends at STL-Style whip up a batch of flags to be featured prominently around the street and at the upcoming Cinco de Mayo festival.
The submission deadline for art is Sunday, May 22nd.
After receiving all submissions we’ll open a poll on CherokeeStreetNews.org to whittle our pool down to a few finalists, from which the CSBA Marketing team will select a champion to be unveiled on Flag Day (June 14th). The winning designer will receive a prize package including $150 cash and their very own Cherokee Street Flag.
Send all submissions and questions to Angelo at AngeloDeorvaa@yahoo.com, or leave your queries in the comments section below.
Do keep in mind the following rules and regulations before submitting, thanks for reading, and good luck!

Spring is around the corner, so that means it's damn near t-shirt season. The 3100 block of Cherokee is gonna be swingin' this Saturday night, with big events taking place at Fort Gondo, the corner space at Cherokee & Compton and of course...STYLEhouse. We're doing '80s music from 7pm-midnight, so those leg warmers and leotards can complement your STL-Style gear. Stop by!

As much as I dislike the fact that a generic plains indian has been adopted to represent the Cherokee (a people from Georgia that wore cloth, lived in houses, had a newspaper and a constitutional government, and were very different from the Osage and Cahokians),
I think the Indian on Jefferson, local street art, the antique row signs, and the logo from the old Cherokee Brewery should stay a part of the iconography.
