First, a nostalgic shot for context...

...and a 1970s-era Bi-State Transit sign. What a treasure!

(Does anyone agree that this old logo with arrows and the green and blue color scheme was oh-so-much cooler than the current red, white and blue M logo? Bring back the arrows! I want to see green and blue MetroLink trains!)
The overwhelming support of Proposition A enables St. Louis' glorious transit legacy to become as much a part of our future as it is our past.

These pics are so cool! I wish we still had trolleys! Ah well. The MetroLink will do!

This is awesome, you guys. I just read an article in WIRED magazine about the whole texting-while-driving phenomenon, and it suggested that the solution was not so much as to discourage texting while driving, but to ENCOURAGE public transit. It reduces auto accidents, provides safe transit to drunk people, and allows people to text and commute. Not to mention it's an obvious step in the right direction as far as preserving our land for tomorrow's generation.
I think the passing of PROP A is a sign of the times, and a very promising step in the right direction.
Nice work, Vines.

Loved the pics. When I was about 5, my father (Great Uncle Ted) put us on a streetcar in Gaslight Square and picked us up at the next block just so we could have the experience. Little did I know that those same streetcars would be sold to the MBTA (Boston) to be used 16 yrs later by me to commute to work. Seems like St. Louis is making much progress with public transit.

Beverly, that is such a great story. To think how drastically the city changed in a single generation is one for the textbooks. From the stories my dad tells of growing up, the city he remembers sounds more like New York than St. Louis!

Hey, what are all those white people doing in Wellston? I know, I know. Bad me.

Over here in St. Charles, we are trying to revive the streetcars. http://www.newtownatstcharles.com/Streetcars.aspx
