Yesterday, I stumbled across a treasure trove of Bi-State bus photos from 1978! CLASSIC!!!
All images are courtesy of Mel Bernero, and can be viewed at BusTalk US Surface Transportation Galleries.

I hereby appeal to Metro - PLEASE BRING BACK THE BLUE AND GREEN COLOR SCHEME. It is infinitely cooler than the red, white and blue we know today. And for that matter, replace the generic "M" logo with the totally cool, totally retro Bi-State arrows. Just imagine how sexy the MetroLink trains would look with those sleek blue and green stripes!
Thank you, and have a good day!

I wasn't around then but the buses look cool, it's funny that most of them have cigarette ads on the side. It really dates the pictures.

Wow, that's a lot of cigarette advertising! But the buses are way cool. I remember those sliding windows too.

I love how all the buses have cig ads on them. That's a relic from another age for sure.

I wholeheartedly agree. Not only were the buses with the blue and green stripes much cooler than the current Metro fleet, the name Bi-State was better as well. So many metro areas have a Metro this or that, but we were the only place with a Bi-State transit system.
The bus pictured in black-and-white is a 560 Belleville-St. Louis bus...I used to take that one a lot with my grandma from the bus stop near Union Market- and in later years- 4th and Washington downtown (my parents would drop me off with her at Famous-Barr where she worked) and then I'd ride the bus to her place on Signal Hill in Belleville). Cool buses, great times!
